They are the ones whose value lives in tasks rather than in judgement, and tasks are exactly what AI takes first.

Three moves close the gap, and you can start all three this week.

The first is to use it on your real work, not on a course about it. Take one genuine task from your actual week, a board paper, a forecast, a hiring brief, and do it alongside an AI tool. The goal is one sentence you can say out loud by Friday. Here is a thing I did better because I used it. Fluency is built on the work you already own, never on the theory.

The second is to find the decision only you make, and give it more of your time rather than less. Somewhere in your week sits a call that depends on your judgement, your relationships, your read of a room. Name it plainly. That decision is the part of your role AI cannot reach, and it is where the whole of your future value lives.

The third is to build one piece of proof you can point to. Write down a single decision from the last year that a machine could never have made, and the result it produced. That one paragraph becomes the spine of how you talk about yourself from here.

One thing to stop today. Stop waiting until you feel ready, because nobody at your level feels ready, and readiness was never the requirement. The leader who repositions while still uncertain will always outrun the one waiting for a certainty that does not arrive.
