Why is My Coaching Expertise Invisible On LinkedIn & What Should My About Section Say?

Coaching expertise stays invisible on LinkedIn when a headline names a credential and an About lists methods. What a coach's profile should say instead, so the transformation lands first.

Coaching expertise stays invisible on LinkedIn because the headline names a credential and the About section lists methods, when both should name the change you create for a client. The most credentialed coach in the room and the most invisible one are often the same person.

The work behind your credential is real and completely private. You logged the supervised hours one session at a time. The evaluation where a trained assessor listened to your recordings against every core competency was all noted. Nobody scrolling at 9pm can see any of that, and a headline reading ICF PCC or MCC tells them anything they were searching for. Expertise does not announce itself. It has to be made findable, in language a buyer already feels.

Your About section is where that turning happens, and many coaches write it backwards. They open with methods, frameworks, and letters after the name, which reads like a filing cabinet, and buyers do not hire filing cabinets.

Open instead with the change. Name the leader who arrives to their sessions armoured and leaves able to breathe. Name the executive who stopped mistaking exhaustion for commitment.

Oscar Wilde said, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken” and a good About section does exactly that, carrying the enormous truth of your work through one small human moment the reader recognises as themselves. The credentials belong underneath, standing as proof once the transformation has already landed.

Write the room first. Let the ICF ACC, PCC, or MCC hold the reader’s trust after they already want what you do. The expertise was never the problem. The infrastructure that makes it findable is, and we refuse to let the people we work with stay invisible while a weaker coach gets the call.
